Poverty Level income

June 8, 2010

The poverty level income which is also known as the poverty line or the poverty threshold is the level of income which is of minimum nature. The poverty level income is considered to be quite significant so that a person would be able to attain a living of typical type in a given country. In the real world situation poverty level income is understood best in those countries that are known as the developing countries than those countries which are developed.

In the year a rough estimation has been done about the widespread poverty level income in the international scenario. It has been found that the poverty level income is about $1 on per day basis or to be more precise it is $1.08 at the purchasing power parity or PPP. An extensive amount of work has been done in this field by the World Bank.

It is very easy to determine the line of poverty and this is actually done by calculating the entire amount of each and every resource, that is very important, and which is being consumed by an average adult in a given year. The approach of finding out the poverty level income is based on the necessity. So an assessment could be made by finding out the least level of expenses that is required for maintaining a bearable life. Studies have revealed that in developing countries the most expensive resources among the many resources that are being used to determine the poverty line is the resource of housing. It is due to this reason that special attention is being provided to the market of real estate as well as to the prices of housing by the economists. It has been argued by the economists that the market of real estate as well as that of the housing has a deep-seated impact on the poverty level income.

There are even other factors which are known to be the individual factors that would help in calculating the poverty level income. Some of these individual factors which would have an impact on the poverty level income include whether a person is a parent to a child, whether the person has reached an old age, whether the person is still a child, whether the person is married or not along with several other factors. The poverty level income has been found to be adjustable each and every year.

In a country the poverty level income is tried and calculated so that it can be used as an economic instrument for bringing about changes in the society. It is the calculation done through the poverty level income which would help in finding out the number of people who are faced with poverty conditions. At the same time poverty level income would also try to find out the socioeconomic conditions of these poverty-stricken people, in order to bring about changes in this field. So poverty level income would help in finding out the conditions of the people who are in poverty so that necessary programs for their welfare and also insurance for their unemployment is provided in order to reduce the level of their poverty.

  2. I am Rev. Lorenzo Smith who has been preaching God’s word and keeping as many of his commands as I can. I am in proverty because less than a year ago I got my self a wife and son but I can find a job but I have a ticket in Miss. for $1700 that prevents me from being able to drive. I was put in jail for 45days for driving without a license and after I served my time I still have the $1700. that I need to pay the ticket. Everyone I talk to say I should be able to get some type of grant so that I can get a job that I could have if I had a license. My new bride is struggling
to help us stay afloat. I love her and I know that she loves me hut our son has seizures and gereric medicine make him sicker and the insurance will not cover
the real seizure medicine I preach at different churches sometimes I get a few dollars. I have worked all of my life building church furniture but this was a family
business. Dad was smart he worked a job but we did not think to provide security for me. When I was not on the Lord’s side I had everything I needed and some, but I am trying to support my family and I have a nerve problem. Where can I find a government agency to help me help my wife and son?

    In his service,
    Lo

  3. I agree with Leslie 110% I am a single mom who is on SSDI and I’m trying to raise 13-year-old twins. It irritates me to no end that I am told that I make to much money for state assistance?? I can barely afford food come the end of the month, we eat a lot of pasta and meat is a precious commodity. However, you see people walking out of the market with Gucci purses, nails done, etc…and I think “what am I doing wrong?” The “poverty line” has such strict guidelines that people like me who fall under neither lower class or middle class get lost in the mix.

Again, I agree with Leslie as I am a firm believer that we spend entirely too much money trying to help other countries when we need to sit back and take a long hard look at OUR country and help all that are in need here.

  4. THEY ARE LIVING!

Workers get a tax break, thank god! I eat romain noodles most of the month, a little chicken for meat! Yeah i am livin large in the land of the free!
