Executive Power

Executive power means entire control over a State or a nation or a multinational company. Executive power can also be present in small businesses where the entire management and control vests with the owner of the business. But in macro level perspective, the position of executive power carries vast responsibilities and duties. For instance, President of United States carries all the executive powers to lead a nation. Executive power also gives an authority to reconsider the opinions of public and to take suitable decisions for the public. Therefore, executive power is a very important designation at state level or at national level.


When it comes to the corporate sector or industrial sector, executive power is given to vice-president, CEO or chief financial officers. This once again reinstates that executive power is given only to those who possess excellent professional education, skills and relevant experience to lead and guide public in several aspects of management. Public management and public administration being a huge subject, executive power is given only to those who possess good capacity to lead and manage people. It is also important to take note that decision making power is given only to those who have executive power. There are various hierarchy levels which carry execution powers as head of states. These are chief of state, chief executive, chief diplomat, commander in chief, chief legislator and guardian of economy. The very term executive power gives a meaning that the power of execution and this is supposedly given only to those who are highly knowledgeable and skilled in various fields. For instance, a vice-president in a company can manage financial statements, business operations and administration.

Therefore for any purpose or deal, the permission of vice president is considered. Keeping all these in view, the corporate sector always selects a suitable individual who can contribute much to the growth of the company and to the success of the company. Power of execution or executive power is very powerful authority with the fact that at judiciary level or at corporate level, every decision which may leave a positive or negative impact on others is issued by the executive authorities. In every matter and aspect of decision, there are many issues that are considered before taking a decision. Therefore, possessing optimum skills and ability to take decision is given only to those who carry good executive skills and qualifications. Another important point to note is that decisions or orders issued by executive authorities are not questioned or asked for any explanation.


The reason for this, is the veto power vests at executive level and this cannot be questioned. People have to listen to the word of President and people have to go by the decisions of President. Similarly companies have to be go by the decisions of executive president or vice president. Because of the fact that, they work in the interest of the company and offer a suitable remedy to the public. Execution power is given only to those who have long years of experience in a particular area such as political career, management career, professor, doctorate or business manager. Without good experience it is very difficult to get executive level promotion or a senator seat in Congress.
