2010 Stimulus check

October 31, 2009

The 2010 stimulus check is set to help over 90% of Americans, but how will this affect you? The changes operated after the implementation of the stimulus have shown themselves clearly in 2009 by way of the stimulus check a high percentage of citizens have received, but its continuation in 2010 will be a bit different. The way in which the stimulus will work consists in a decrease in federal taxes, which will manifest itself through increases in average Americans’ paychecks.

But how do you know you qualify for this generalized federal tax deduction that is part of the government’s stimulus package and how should you go about receiving what the government is offering you, like a 2010 stimulus check ? First of all, in order to qualify, you must be paying social security; this means you have to be employed (or self-employed), i.e. you must be working and paying taxes. You must also make sure that your income does not exceeded the amount of $95,000 per year, or, if you are married and wish to submit a joint stimulus consideration request, then the joint income of the two applicants mustn’t exceed $190,000 per year. You must also keep in mind that certain restrictions to the federal tax cut the stimulus will grant you apply if your annual intake exceeds $75,000 or if you and your spouse’s joint annual income exceeds $150,000.

The federal tax deduction comprised in the stimulus will put in (or rather, not take out of) your pocket the sum of $400 (or for a joint application a total of $800). This is money the government normally would have taken out of your salary that you are now allowed to keep. It’s the same amount you will receive in 2009, only divided along 12 months instead of 9. This, in case you meet all the requirements and benefit from the full tax deduction. The amount of the deduction will be smaller depending on where you stand on the annual income chart. You will not be receiving a check in the mail or a check from your employer to mark the stimulus tax cut, but rather, you will be receiving an extra few dollars every month on top of what you’ve been earning so far. Those with maximal benefits from the stimulus will cash an extra $33 every month for the duration of the 2010 stimulus check thanks to the stimulus plan. That means that if you are filing for the federal tax deduction with someone else, together you will receive $66 every month.

If you are working two jobs and qualify for the federal tax cut, you will probably need to be extra careful. As it turns out, you stand to get a tax deduction on both paychecks, which means that you that you have double benefits, which unfortunately isn’t possible. Even if you are working two jobs, you only qualify for one share of the stimulus plan, which means that if you receive the something extra on your paychecks from both jobs, you will either have to notify one of your employers instructing them to desist, or you will be required to return the extra money after the end of the fiscal year.

The tax deductions that accompany the stimulus plan are meant to make it easier to navigate through the economic crisis, for the hard working Americans who find themselves having difficulty keeping up with the ever changing economic climate. While it might not seem like much on a grand scale, the federal tax deduction comprised in the 2010 stimulus check can make things a lot easier for many of those who are struggling to make ends meet.

  1. I would like to know when we are expecting these stimulus checks. We deserve to know what is going on with our hard earn money. If the government wants to send us another check, then who are we to say no too. There are people who are struggling to make ends meet and there are people who oppose this stimulus bill. So to all those who oppose this change, I say too bad and suck it up!!!

Reading these post, I am reminded of all the poor people during Katrina in New Orleans. “Where’s my help?”, “The Gov’t should be helping us!”, “I need money!” “It’s the Gov’t fault Katrina hit us!” BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!! Sorry, Thought the whole reason we fought the British for Independence was so we could take care of our selves and not have the Gov’t all up in our Kool-aid! And no, it is not “our” money, it is our childrens’ and grand childrens’ money that the President and his peeps are handing out to everybody. Tell the children thank you, cause that is who will be the ones paying for it.

As far as the fact that somebody signed up for the military, I thank them. ALL OF THEM! All the freedoms that one uses to complain about everything, was paid for with the blood of the soldier and the tears of the family. Those oxygen bandits that want to enjoy the freedoms without paying for them are the same ones that want to have the Gov’t's help without supporting the military where ever and whenever they are called by the GOV’T! A soldier feels a duty to serve their Gov’t to protect the freedoms and their loved ones, the Gov’t is the one that sends the soldier to die in Iraq or Afghanistan or where ever . Who gave YOU the right to judge them…. OH WAIT, THE SOLDIER DID! So instead of stabbing them in the back or spitting on them, how about saying, “I don’t like what you have to do cause the Gov’t said for you to do it, but I support and thank YOU SOLDIER.”

So to all the soldiers out there, current and former and those thinking about signing up, alive and dead, I thank GOD for you, for your service, dedication, and the freedoms I have because without you and your service to this country and this Gov’t, we might be speaking German or Japanese or something right now. Thank you for gracing us with your strength, your blood, and watching things happen to your “brothers” and “sisters” that I would never want anybody that I care about to have to witness or go through. You and your families are the ones that deserve all of this stimulus if it should be given.

I’m not sure why both my June 4, 2010 comment and my June 10, 2010 comment are “awaiting moderation” when other comments posted after those dates have been posted. There was no profanity in my comments and I can’t see anything in them that would prevent them from being posted. In reading some of the comments to disabled people about “getting a job” and calling “us” lazy I really find it appalling!!! With WORKING previously, when I was not disabled, at 38 jobs I hardly deem myself lazy whatsoever!!! I’ve raised six successful “children” who ALL WORK. My mother worked until she got cancer at the age of 50 and died. I was 17 years old when she died. My step-father died one month later. I started working at the age of 16-so please don’t call me lazy!!! A lot of my relatives paid into Social Security and NEVER COLLECTED A PENNY!!! So YOU, those of you who think you are paying for my benefits, YOU AREN’T!!! I paid into Social Security for too many years to count to receive only $805. per month!!! Hopefully YOU won’t ever become disabled and unable to work. GOD BLESS THE USA!!!

  12. Did anyone receive the stimulus check? I’m just curious.

  13. iz got no money left. wr iz da free mooney from da ritch taxpeyars. Obama iz my frend. He says i aynt goto work . Iz jest luvs da us.

  14. I have been reading these and I am seeing that this country I am so proud to be apart of can’t seem to find compassion for another fellow american. I work FT as a CNA in the healthcare field. I am contributing with my taxes and I have no problem with this. My rent has increased,I have an old car as not to make payments, gave up cell phone and long distance have 2 teenagers at home my husband isn’t working right now and I am not complaining. Life is life find a way to make it work for you. We can all make it through this.

  15. Put your trust in no Man. Trust in God.
The word tells us And my God shall supply all our needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus.

We are all facing a storm but the storm doesn’t cease to men. Call on the Name of Jesus. He’s our provider and our protector.
    Change doesn’t come over Night…

Sometime this year, we taxpayers will again receive another ‘Economic Stimulus’ payment.

This is indeed a very exciting program, and I’ll explain it by Using a Q & A format:

    Q. What is an ‘Economic Stimulus’ payment ?

    A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q.. Where will the government get this money ?

    A. From taxpayers.

    Q. So the government is giving me back my own money ?

    A. Only a smidgen of it.

    Q. What is the purpose of this payment ?

    A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a High-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

    Q. But isn’t that stimulating the economy of China ?

    A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the U.S. Economy by Spending your stimulus check wisely:

    * If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China or Sri Lanka .

    * If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs.

    * If you purchase a computer, it will go to India , Taiwan or China .

    * If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico Honduras and Guatemala ..

    * If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea .

    * If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan .

    * If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in America by:

    1) Spending it at yard sales, or

    2) Going to ball games, or

    3) Spending it on prostitutes, or

    4) Beer or

    5) Tattoos.

(These are the only American businesses still operating in the U.S. )

    Conclusion:

Go to a ball game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a yard Sale and drink beer all day !

No need to thank me, I’m just glad I could be of help.

  17. I have a question. Im on SSI n people keep telling me that we r expecting a second stimulus check is that true. and when r we getting it? do we need to file it or do anything? or we just automatic get it.

  18. kimberly graves on June 29, 2010 at 6:54 pm

are we getting 250.00 this year

  19. Are you people kidding me?? Who ever told you that this country OWES you anything because you live here? I am soooo sick of all the social programs, that were set up to help those truely in need, supporting slackers! There are very few medical ailments that would truly qualify someone unable to work in some capacity. Most of you have never even contributed to Social Security or any other taxes, for that matter. I work because that’s what responsible, productive people do. And I sure as hell do not get out of bed everyday so that you can sit on your duff 24/7. With this country in the condition it is…welfare and medicaid should be the first things cut. So, how dare you complain about no one giving you an extra teet to suck off of (ie no increase in benefits, no 2010 stimulus). Get a damn job!

  20. you’re the idiot if you think ssi pays big . i pay bills and try to put food on my table and that’s not easy. i am not any lazy ass bumb nor do i pretend to work and don’t do nything but set on ass for 8 hrs.

  21. mary cunningham, mathis on June 27, 2010 at 9:21 am

those who are critizing, oboma are the one who do not keep up with the news, some time the mediac turns things around, but if you know politic, oboma is not responsible for the dirt that left from the ,other adminstration, that he has to try and clean up . so try helping the president by not giving him a bad name and vote and make him a two term pres., pray for him and his and our country, thanks and god bless martin luther king senator kennedy, and all of the kennedys, that paved the way for our president. god bless our president god bless our country.m-c-m, n.y.c.

  22. Everyone on here has something to complain about, whether it be why is working people getting a raise and only disability is getting a Stimulus check. Please i have been working since 14 living on my own since 17 and I worked the crappest and worst jobs you could imagine.. ya it was hard finding money to pay rent, utilities, hospital bills gas and food but I did it without help. I work at a bank and have been for the last 4 years and I see every month when ssi comes out people getting checks larger than what I make in a month, they take it buy them things they don’t need.. alcohol, tabacco, drugs… it makes me sick. I cringe everytime someone withdrawls that money.. I spend 40- 49 hours a week working and for those who sit here saying why should the working get 30$ more.. because we actually dedicated ourself, motivated ourselves, and got a job. Ya you’ll have to apply to ten places before one calls you back but it will pay off, I have had over 25 jobs, and for those who say getting hired is hard, have you thought about what your resume looked like? or if your grammer and spelling is right? did you dress professionally when you went to apply? Its all in how you hold yourself. I didn’t finish college.. I had to work more because I couldn’t afford it, I see people whom have a pretty comfy lifestyle get more in grants for school than me.. makes me sick. I’ve been emancipated and don’t talk to my parents so grants go off my income which isn’t real low but not anything to brag about, yet I can barely get my books paid for. For the Military, I appreciate you serving the country… but remember you chose to join, no one forced you so don’t ask for pity because you won’t find none here, it was your choice to have a family knowing you will eventually have to go on a tour. As far as Obama goes.. I hate doing political opinions but we have got ourselves in a deeper debt than ever, By the time its time for me to retire there won’t be Social security… its sad. This country keeps getting worse and worse.

  23. has the bill passed yet. on the 250 stimulus, if it has why doesn’t anyone know who will be receiving a check, and the dates.

  24. Something has to give. I am a mother of 2 girls, 6 and 12yrs. Recently laid off, told i would only receive $135.00 a week, my youngest has cystic fibrosis, bills are piling up, and I’m terrified in a few more weeks, me and my girls will be homeless. I’m struggling now to put food on the table, My daughter with CF needs to eat often and she does, it’s killing me I have to tell her to stop eating because we wont have anything to eat later. I am so scared right now about the future. The government is doing the poor so wrong, as much money that is floating in this country, there is no reason for anyone to be homeless, hungry, or without medical. I feel for all the families who are going through what I am going through. Breaks my heart to see this happening to everyone in the lower class. Sad thing is, no one even cares.

  25. Janice Shirely on June 23, 2010 at 10:31 pm

And all you people who get all of this FREE stuff, my taxes pay for that!!!! Thanks!! Get a freaking job!

  27. i just want to know if we going to recieved a stimuus this year 2010,and when they going to star send it please email me and let me know thanks

  28. Kat,
joining the Armed Forces is voluntary. Many people in my family network did, mostly looking for education and health benefits combined with lower housing loans and better disability cover. it also gives a leg up on federal jobs.

It’s a choice. Nobody has to make one and nobody owns you anything more than you sign for.

Nobody also fights for anyone’s freedom in these dirty wars. This is all about corporate benefits.

The longer the war goes on, the more all Americas will be hated.

Not much to be proud of.

  29. i pray that god will answere all prayers that will help the people of this world in the time of crisiss . god knows what we need before we ask him we have to humble ourselves and pray with authority and let him you have faith in him and trust that he will be their becuse he is always on time like we express ourselves on this blog if we get on our knees and command gods attention and let him know that we are his children and that he is christ lord and the onley to him is thru jesus i promise the pain will ease and the days will get better you will find yourself not so irrittaded by the way things are going because we may be poore but we are rich in spirit please people dont let no-one still the little joy that we have left dont ever giveup we may giveout i repeat dont give up we cant we just cant. p.s love all of gods children goodluck.

  30. It is NOT just President Obama who has been for the middle class/rich americans. Every president has been that way, so why get upset…that’s why we vote every 4 years. It is up to the people to choose. I voted for Obama and he has done some well deserved works, but we all can’t expect CHANGE one year or even two. Ex President Bush put us in a huge mess, along with others.
I believe all people deserve the stimulous, but the set amount of earnings should be less. I am disabled with kidney and liver disease. I have been low income for a very long time and any help from the government would be a relief. I also believe that ALL low income families and disabled people should recieve the stimulous checks. I also believe that the government needs to stop dancing around and answer our questions and comments. We have so-called rights, but gradually the government is taking them from us.

Got something to say?
