2010 Stimulus check

October 31, 2009

The 2010 stimulus check is set to help over 90% of Americans, but how will this affect you? The changes operated after the implementation of the stimulus have shown themselves clearly in 2009 by way of the stimulus check a high percentage of citizens have received, but its continuation in 2010 will be a bit different. The way in which the stimulus will work consists in a decrease in federal taxes, which will manifest itself through increases in average Americans’ paychecks.

But how do you know you qualify for this generalized federal tax deduction that is part of the government’s stimulus package and how should you go about receiving what the government is offering you, like a 2010 stimulus check ? First of all, in order to qualify, you must be paying social security; this means you have to be employed (or self-employed), i.e. you must be working and paying taxes. You must also make sure that your income does not exceeded the amount of $95,000 per year, or, if you are married and wish to submit a joint stimulus consideration request, then the joint income of the two applicants mustn’t exceed $190,000 per year. You must also keep in mind that certain restrictions to the federal tax cut the stimulus will grant you apply if your annual intake exceeds $75,000 or if you and your spouse’s joint annual income exceeds $150,000.

The federal tax deduction comprised in the stimulus will put in (or rather, not take out of) your pocket the sum of $400 (or for a joint application a total of $800). This is money the government normally would have taken out of your salary that you are now allowed to keep. It’s the same amount you will receive in 2009, only divided along 12 months instead of 9. This, in case you meet all the requirements and benefit from the full tax deduction. The amount of the deduction will be smaller depending on where you stand on the annual income chart. You will not be receiving a check in the mail or a check from your employer to mark the stimulus tax cut, but rather, you will be receiving an extra few dollars every month on top of what you’ve been earning so far. Those with maximal benefits from the stimulus will cash an extra $33 every month for the duration of the 2010 stimulus check thanks to the stimulus plan. That means that if you are filing for the federal tax deduction with someone else, together you will receive $66 every month.

If you are working two jobs and qualify for the federal tax cut, you will probably need to be extra careful. As it turns out, you stand to get a tax deduction on both paychecks, which means that you that you have double benefits, which unfortunately isn’t possible. Even if you are working two jobs, you only qualify for one share of the stimulus plan, which means that if you receive the something extra on your paychecks from both jobs, you will either have to notify one of your employers instructing them to desist, or you will be required to return the extra money after the end of the fiscal year.

The tax deductions that accompany the stimulus plan are meant to make it easier to navigate through the economic crisis, for the hard working Americans who find themselves having difficulty keeping up with the ever changing economic climate. While it might not seem like much on a grand scale, the federal tax deduction comprised in the 2010 stimulus check can make things a lot easier for many of those who are struggling to make ends meet.

  1. My thoughts are the same as MILLIONS of others. One lump sum of the money would help rather that the $ 33.00 per month that we won’t even feel. You can put all these politician clowns together and it still would’t equal a brain. Maybe they all should make a trip to the land of OZ and get one.

  2. Inpeach Obama and everything will get better He’s the worst president in the history of the nation.

  3. I have been reading page after page of questions regarding the 2010 stimulus check but I have yet to find any answers available. Where are the answers???

  4. I want to know why people that sit home and dont do nothing but make babys get ever help possible when it comes to paying for education. While the one whose single works hard and go to school pay for school. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE ANSWER THAT QUESTION FOR ME. So can they do a stimulus check for single people LIKE US.

  5. To those of you who think you deserve a handout because you don’t make as much money as other people……think about this—–that great income isn’t just given, it is earned. Some people choose to get good educations, which may lead to great incomes. It is called personal choices and consequences. What happened to personal responsibility?????

  6. I think it is a shame that we the people can bail out these big companies and banks. But when it comes us needing some help from them it no,no,no,no for this reason or another we did not have a say when they got the money from us and how some of them pissed it off or got a bigt bonus while we all sit by way getting not a thing in return. NOW WERE IS OUR HELP WE ALL CAN USE THE MONEY TO GET AHEAD OF ALOT OF OUR BILLS ARE THE BANKS AND BIG COMPANIES GOING TO HELP US LIKE WE HELPED THEM?

  7. i think its a shame u can bail out auto workers credit card co but the ppl who work hard all there lifes gets the shaft and fight in wars for america freedom sentor greg says piss on them real nice new hamp ppl dont vote for sen gregg come election time

  8. yes i am reciveing ssi and will i get the $ 250.00 extras money my family could you the money how can i fine out to see if i can get it to

  9. I watched the Senate voting on c-span on 3/3/10 and couldn’t believe the results! Over 50 senators voted no! The senate rejected the bill! Even some that wanted $250 for elderly, retired, disabled &social security recipients voted no to two separate amendments that would of passed the bill!
Those that voted no have “cut the throats” of everyone the bill would have helped!
If it had been a bill to give the stinking rich money it would have passed!

I thought “cut throats were “low class” I didn’t know they wore business suits too!
Does anyone know who [if any] we can contact to get this bill reconsidered?

We belive that with that kind of money you should be able to help BAIL

some of us POOR FOLKS out. Ya’all make almost two and a half times

as much as us. And you wanted to know if you get some of the money

ment for us poor folks. That is a Flipping Joke I HOPE.

  11. Is there anyway we can send our 33.00 a month to the Goverment. It

seems that they think the need it more then us tax Payers and Hourly

Workers. Please let us know. Because, 33.00 a month is just an insault

    to us hard workers.

  12. What this doesn’t say is that while this may halp in the short term with putting some gas in your tank or whatever, it will actually hurt in the long run. When you file your 2010 tax returns you will have that much less taxes that you have paid lowering your tax return in the end by up to $800 for couples.

  13. I read Katrina’s reply and wanted to share this link… HOMELESS PREVENTION is key.. our economy is a disaster, and we need to donate here at home before others.. so we can continue to help others in the future after taking care of ourselves!!! check out links below.. someone may find this of help……

  14. the 2010 stinulous package is all fine and well except for the fact that americans donated millions of dollars to haiti…i am truely sorry for their loss and devistation but we are so busy helping other countries we are forgetting about our own…i dont see any other countries helping us in this recession…if u ask me the government is a little messed up…americans should help americans first…and i think a check for the stimulous, like received in 2008 would help more than 33$ each month. at least one lump sum could help americans pay a mortgage or a car payment to keep from loosing posessions…maybe next election americans will elect someone with americans best intrest in mind!!!

Well, i was eligible for a Stimulus ck. one year which might have been 2008 but didn’t receive it. I am residing in a nursing home and have been since 2001. I am 100% disabled. So, could I receive a Stimulus check this year, and is Obama granting this for Disabled Americans? If so, how much would I be eligible for, and how do I receive an application for one? Thank you.

  16. About this whole 2010 stimulus. Is it really gonna help anyone. Not in my book.I understand there are seniors who don’t get hardly anything in SSI. But as far as us that are still working the stimulus isn’t gonna do shit for us. It’s not gonna help you pay you’re morgage, it’s not gonna be enough to buy a car, it might pay a phone bill but that’s about it. Maybe ya’ll are happy with this “2010 stimulus” but as far as I’m concerned our government can do a WHOLE lot more for all of us AMERICANS. But instead our government wants to help all the illegal immigrants and every other country but ours. Get pissed if you want but that’s the truth. I just hope by the time my children are grown and able to vote we will have a government that is TRULY on our side. That’s all I have to say. Like it or not.

  17. Okay the way I feel is everyone no matter who you are, what race, religion, or how old should get a stimulus check. My family is trying to live off of $136.00 a week, a week mind you from unemployment. We pay bills, people ask us how in the hell do you get by off of that? Plus that is with help from the extra $25.00 stimulus. But I heard the extra $25.00 for unemployment was going to end after this month, so look at what income we would have then. We BARELY make it now how much worse do you think it’s going to get when they take that extra $25.00 away from us and others on unemployment like our family? My sons birthday is coming up next month and we can’t even afford to get him anything, plus we can’t even afford to get toilet paper to wipe our asses, seriously I am not kidding. Pretty soon I seriously think with the way the unemployment is going, we’ll be close to being on the streets, because places like community action can only help you out once a year, for a disconnect only once a year. Now you tell me is that enough? or if that’s even fair, just or even being treated equal as every other American citizen????!!!!!!!!!

  18. We would like to know how to get our home mortgage payment lowered????????????We have mailed certified letters numerous times and we are not getting any answers……………………..

  19. We also would like to know if everyone is getting a 2010 stimulus check???????????????????????????

  20. Last year i recieved a stimulus check which helped a lot when trying to make ends meet. from what i’ve read it seems that instead of being sent a check i’ll be recieving $33.00 a month on my paychecks. Will this be stated on my paychecks? I don’t always trust my employers and want to make sure i am recieving the stimulus check i qualify for. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  21. does anyone really know if the stimulas bill ever passed

  22. does anyone know when we will start receiving the stimulas checks forv 2010?

  23. Yes, they have I know of two people that received their Stimulus Check for $250.00 in Oklahoma on Feb 1st.. They are both on Social Security.

  24. Will there be a payment this year to Social Security and elderly people of 250.00? I heard March but from my research the bill has not even passed to do this?

  25. i agree with everyone,i know some people depend on that little extra cash.but the advance stimulus was the % of how u filed the year before.they let us(tax payers) keep more of our check, this is why there is NO stimulus checks for anyone this year.

  26. I would like to say that I agree with the stimulus being paid to the seniors and the disabled as far as working ppl getting it, my husband works and when we filed our 2009 taxes we did receive an additional 800 dollars for our part of the stimulus package as they call it. however I did not know that they had already started paying out 2010 for the disabled, I have been waiting to see if the bill was passed for my retired father so does anyone know if it has been passed for 2010 and if so when will ppl start receiving their payments?

  27. Oklahoma got what ? I never even heard that anyone was for sure getting anything, and that if we were going to, it wouldn’t be until March(before the end of the first fiscal quarter) I know I haven’t received anything, nor has anyone in the state that I live in that I know of.

  28. How come the Socaail Security paid Oklahoma the 2010 Stimulus checks on
Feb 1st and not anyone else?

  29. Toni – what rock did you crawl out from under??? How dare you attack the very people who should be entitled to a stimulus check. Your attacks on those who are receiving social security or disability have worked long and hard and paid their taxes, including those drawing disability.
Either you are to young and dumb to understand how this works or, you are not from the USA and are looking for something YOU DON’T DESERVE. Bottom line is IF YOU DIDN’T PAY IT IN, YOU DON’ GET ANYTHING. I know of SEVERAL seniors who worked their entire life, paid their taxes and are trying to SURVIVE, and in case you do not understand, that means there is no extra money, sometimes not even enough for food, going to the movies, having a car, cable etc. My fater worked from the time he was 15, paid his taxes and never complained. When he could no longer work, at have 68, he was given $500 a month to live on. Can your greedy, self centered ass live on that??? I doubt it.

  30. I agree with Lori – what 2010 stimulus? I haven’t heard a word about it being given to the tax payers directly. And as for 2009 – what happened to that? I didn’t receive anything either. If there is anyone out there that understands this and can explain it, that would be most appreciated.
    Thank you
