The 2010 stimulus check is set to help over 90% of Americans, but how will this affect you? The changes operated after the implementation of the stimulus have shown themselves clearly in 2009 by way of the stimulus check a high percentage of citizens have received, but its continuation in 2010 will be a bit different. The way in which the stimulus will work consists in a decrease in federal taxes, which will manifest itself through increases in average Americans’ paychecks.


But how do you know you qualify for this generalized federal tax deduction that is part of the government’s stimulus package and how should you go about receiving what the government is offering you, like a 2010 stimulus check ? First of all, in order to qualify, you must be paying social security; this means you have to be employed (or self-employed), i.e. you must be working and paying taxes. You must also make sure that your income does not exceeded the amount of $95,000 per year, or, if you are married and wish to submit a joint stimulus consideration request, then the joint income of the two applicants mustn’t exceed $190,000 per year. You must also keep in mind that certain restrictions to the federal tax cut the stimulus will grant you apply if your annual intake exceeds $75,000 or if you and your spouse’s joint annual income exceeds $150,000.


The federal tax deduction comprised in the stimulus will put in (or rather, not take out of) your pocket the sum of $400 (or for a joint application a total of $800). This is money the government normally would have taken out of your salary that you are now allowed to keep. It’s the same amount you will receive in 2009, only divided along 12 months instead of 9. This, in case you meet all the requirements and benefit from the full tax deduction. The amount of the deduction will be smaller depending on where you stand on the annual income chart. You will not be receiving a check in the mail or a check from your employer to mark the stimulus tax cut, but rather, you will be receiving an extra few dollars every month on top of what you’ve been earning so far. Those with maximal benefits from the stimulus will cash an extra $33 every month for the duration of the 2010 stimulus check thanks to the stimulus plan. That means that if you are filing for the federal tax deduction with someone else, together you will receive $66 every month.

If you are working two jobs and qualify for the federal tax cut, you will probably need to be extra careful. As it turns out, you stand to get a tax deduction on both paychecks, which means that you that you have double benefits, which unfortunately isn’t possible. Even if you are working two jobs, you only qualify for one share of the stimulus plan, which means that if you receive the something extra on your paychecks from both jobs, you will either have to notify one of your employers instructing them to desist, or you will be required to return the extra money after the end of the fiscal year.


The tax deductions that accompany the stimulus plan are meant to make it easier to navigate through the economic crisis, for the hard working Americans who find themselves having difficulty keeping up with the ever changing economic climate. While it might not seem like much on a grand scale, the federal tax deduction comprised in the 2010 stimulus check can make things a lot easier for many of those who are struggling to make ends meet.

    Welcome to reality all of you including the military lady who talks about how difficult life is for her despite the fact militaries “fight for our freedom” So Irak was OUR freedom??? or SOMEONES personal being…I will not go into that just because it´s worthless. About the stimulus, finally reality hit us all huh?? So much ingnorance on our part thinking that power and wealth could last forever. Talking about the low income people?? WHO CARES ABOUT THE LOW INCOME PEOPLE????? nobody cares about a single mother trying to raise up her children alone; a disable who gets $600 / month expected to pay rent, medical expenses and God knows what else; the graduate student sunk in more than $300 0000 in debt just because he was trying to become someone in life; the old lady who gets sick and her retirement doesn´t even buy her 7 days of medical treatment. That´s our country and it´s always been like that. Now all the sudden everybody sees it??? just because now it hits us to each of us personally. That´s how egoist we are. Politics do now what they been doing forever make fortunes with the public´s money. Blame it on Obama, he is Obama but more than anything else he is a DEMOCRAT, and if he was a REPUBLICAN it will be the same thing or any other political group for that matter. Nobody in politics does anything for “the good of the people,” and let me say that I feel very sorry for who still belives in that utopia. Nobody cares about the family who gets to the end of the month 500 minus in their bank account, when Donald Trump has lost 2 million… what part of that we don´t understand??? Obvious, only when the econimic measures affect the rich someone does something to change it. Otherwise nobody moves a finger. So now it´s survival of the fittest, or in this case survival of the richest, powerful and in control. But don´t worry people everybody gets through someway or another, take a look at Africa with all the things that had happen there it´s hard to believe they still pull through. And here in America we´ll do the same the difference is that they manage with a cup a rice a day and we need 3 meals a day; they are happy with a house made of straw mat and we need bricks, air conditioner, electricity, internet, microwaves and cars to feel real human beings.

    To all of you that think that you lead tough lives and think that those who are on the top are reaping more benefits than you are clearly out of your mind. I am a single parent (mother) in the Military and NONE of you will EVER know a “HARDSHIP” like those in the Military feel everyday when we rarely get to see our families and work all the time and are STILL barely able to put food on the table and gas in our by no means luxury vehicles. We fight for your freedom, we fight for your right to speak, we fight for all the benefits that you DO have and I apologize if this is the first time that you have been placed in a situation where you are actually being told the cold hard truth, but suck it up through a straw. Honestly, what makes anyone more deserving of a stimulus check that in turn you will probably go out and spend it on Booze and ciggarettes. Most of those stimulus checks that were sent out in 2009 were spent not to pay for bills and not used by those who are in “hardships” for their “hardships” I do understand that there are alot of people out there that deserve a little more than the person to their left or right but think about those that are fighting for your freedom and dieing across the world and will never get to experience the hardships that you are enduring. I’m not saying that I am better then any of you by any means. And I’m sure President Obama doesn’t think that he is better than you either, but instead of fighting the War that men and women are losing their life for everyday because people are invading our country and killing OUR citizens he is fighting his own “civil war” if you will with people that are ungrateful for what they have and what they will have in the future. Believe me when I say that I do not agree with everything that the president and his cabinet says or does but guess what they are doing what they believe will help our country in the long run. No it may not help today or tomorrow, but 20 years from now when the US has done a complete 180 degree turn and you are seeing that it is for the better then talk to someone about your “hardships”. This was not directed toward any one person and I am proud to serve for my country in the Marine Corps and each and every one of you, but this ridiculous banter has got to be put to an end at some point. I work for the president he is my boss would you yell at your boss at McDonalds and tell him that his resturant is being ran the wrong way. Let the man do his job and try and make the United States somewhere where people would like to live.

    As a new graduate in the teaching profession I am deeply concerned with the state of our educational system. Due to the economy and budget cuts and reduced federal money it is now impossible to find a teaching job (at least in the south). Classroom sizes are increasing and teacher positions reduced. I am passionate about teaching but do not see that I will be able to effect the lives of potentional students in the near future if ever. I have two daughters that also want to be teachers and now I question if I should discourage them since there may not be a job for them when they finish college. This is my third career so I am not some fresh out of school graduate with a whole life ahead of me. I fear I made the wrong career choice. On top of all this I have $40,000 in students loans and not job to pay them back. Will the government give me a ‘bailout’? I don’t want to be a pessimist but I can not see an end in sight. As the little man, like all the other little men, I need financial relief and fast.

    I am not yet seeing how obama’s bettering our country. All’s I have read is negative comments…I am normally a positive person but I have to say that is going down hill. I currently had to quit my job because I was told pick between your sick son (14 months old) and my job….I mean really? so I quit. I have documents showing we have been in and out of doctors offices and hospitals yet because I quit I cant file unemployment because its the companys word against mine. and apparently to many EXCUSED absents can get you fired….I wasnt even informed on FMLA until after I quit and it was to late soooo pretty much I got screwed. My spouse brings in roughly 1100.00 a month for 3 people….our bills (basic-rent,elec,water,trash,car insurance…) is over 1300.00 soooo where is the money for food or gas or diapers for our child??? not to mention I have been with a workforce agency for over 2 months now and put in over 79 applications and yet still no job….NOT EVEN AT A SONIC for crying out loud. Since I was 16 I have always been employed, I might only be 22 but this economy is not getting better in my eyes….I just dont know where to turn anymore. No one has answers that ARE SUPPOSE TO…wont mention any names. I just think its sad that a low income family pretty much just has to suffer…oh and did i mention that I have an absect tooth for 2 months that is swelling my face and probably killing me and yet every denist in TX says…give me 200-300 dollars and we will fix you….hello let me pull that off a money tree for ya there buddy! BUT if you have a small cut you can go to the ER and they will fix it for free, bill ya, and set up a payment plan? wow thanks…..why not have an ER Denist? oh because we cant afford to do that….then where is all this “ima fix the ecomony…with more jobs…more pay…more medical” going????? If it wasnt for the good Lord I would have probably lost all faith in well pretty much everything. Alls I know is something needs to be done and quick not only for my family but all these familys across all states who are suffering because no one has any answers for us….yet if the providers of these answers were in our shoes or even see what some of us went through daily, I honestly believe that answers would come alot quicker! May God bless each and every one of you who is struggling through this hard time. If you are religious please Pray for our country and for all of us in this hard time! God bless…..

    YOU HAVE MADE IT REALLY HARD ON THE LOWER INCOME PEOPLE WHO GET SSI AND SOCIAL SECURITY DISABELATY. I FEEL YOU TOOK FROM THE POOR TO GIVE TO THE RICH.     All I got to say is that this stimulus check would have helped a lot. Especially when it is so hard to find a job. I have turned in over 25 applications all over my town, and have only got ONE call back. Why is it that the people that truly need the assistance can’t get it? Yet the people that have all the nice new cars/trucks don’t need the assistance. I can’t understand the reasoning for all of this crap. I’m using my freedom of speech on this, but President Obama, you have done a great job on putting this country into more debt by screwing the poor people over. The rich people are the ones that benefited from everything that has been done. Everyone that is low income can’t get any kind of break. Though the government has no problem dishing out money to people that do not need the help. It is ridiculous how this country is being run right now. I guess I’m not supposed to understand why everything is so screwed up, but I can make my own guesses. Oh well. Maybe it will take the people getting too angry and demanding Obama get impeached before the government will listen to all of us poor people.

    I called ss in indiana a week ago and I was told they did
    approve a 250 stimulus check for only those on diasbility.
    no one eles..and they havent a clue when they are going to be sent out.

    so if you only get ssi you will not recieve this stimulus.

    Here is the phone number for the White House 202 456-1111. When prompted option to make a comment to President Obama. A real person will take your response. I call the White House often. The wait time is normally short. The only time that it was longer was when it was announced that there was not going to be a COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT. The more people call and complain to the White House about not geting the stimulus check and the fact they are disabled and can’t work, the more the White House will pay attention to us. If your power or heat is about to be shut off tell them you have a HARDSHIP and they will contact someone on your behalf. Last year my power was about to be shut off and within 3 hours my past due bill of $810. was paid by a non-profit. I had a letter faxed to the White House and also to my Power Company. Check with your local homeless non-profits to also get help keeping your heat or power on. Also check with your senior centers for help. You don’t need to be a senior to get help. Does everyone know about freecycle.com? Everything is FREE for pickup in your LOCAL area. Does everyone know about coupons.com? You can save money on groceries and other items. You are allowed to print a certain amount of coupons on your home computer. Hope this helps.
    I have worked 38 jobs in my lifetime and raised 6 successful adult children. The money I receive from Social Security ($805. per month) is from what I paid into Social Security on MY SOCIAL SECURITY RECORD, not my ex-husbands!!! So it is MY DIME!!! Check into grants in your area for weatherization. Both my attic and basement were insulated for FREE. I also received a FREE water heater, 7 FREE double pane windows, a FREE door, and a FREE electric panel. There are a couple of grants coming up that I will also qualify for for a FREE electric heat pump, and a $7,500 grant to repair my front porch and sidewalk. Sometimes it’s difficult to find some of these resources but they do exist. The best way to find them is to check locally. Although churches are supposed to be the place to go to get help where I live in Oregon I haven’t gotten help from a church even one time. Local non-profits and the senior center are a great resource. This year I have received so far over $1,200. in help from both the senior center and local non-profits to keep my heat on. I am so grateful that they were able to help. Being the end of the month I have .48 cents in the bank. I had to recycle cans to eat today. Someone left $5.00 worth of plastic bottles on my porch. I got $2.00 in gas, some milk, and a bag of potatoes. I will make it to April 30th when my check for $121. comes in from the VA-my estranged husband is a vet. We don’t live together-his choice. I TRY TO JUST TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME AND MAKE IT THROUGH THE DAY. I SELDOM ASK MY GROWN ADULT CHILDREN FOR HELP. A FEW TIMES A YEAR THEY WILL HELP ME.
    A week and a half ago I called Social Security to see if they heard anything more about the $250. Stimulus check. The person there said it was on the calendar for the next day to come out. I kept checking with my bank and no check!!! I called Social Security back and was told I was given wrong information. She stated that nothing had been approved yet. That is the latest that I have heard.

    What I want to know is why are people that are working got a $30.00 dollar
    increase on their paychecks and the seniors lose out on a yearly raise on
    their social security monthly payment. And everything is going sky high, the
    gas, food,ext, ext. The cost of living is getting ridiculous, It’s not enough of
    what we seniors get to cover all this high costly living. By the time I pay all
    my expenses all I have left is for gas money and very few groceries and I
    see all this imigrants with their shoping carts all the way to the top and new
    cars when I can barely afford to put gas on an older model, thats not fair, I
    worked hard and I’m barely making ends meet, but Oh Well!

    If you earned anything at all working, file your taxes. You may be eligible for something called Earned Income Credit on your federal taxes and some states offer sales tax rebates for people who made less than a certain amount on either disability or from low wages. I get one from my states and I am on disability. File your taxes. If you made under $50,000.00, you can go to irs.gov and file both federal and state taxes completely free using a simple software package. my favorite is turbo tax but there are other free choices also. I believe low income workers deserve the current lowered taxes and to receive more from their pay checks each pay day. That is when you need it to buy groceries. Obama inherited an economic mess and I believe in his economic program and what it is doing for people little by little after the horrendous nightmare of the previous 8 years. If something is screwed up for 8 years, it takes at least half that to get it straightened out. File your taxes. If you are poor, there are rebates you can get.

    It is sad to drive through local small towns. Seeing that the people that live in low income housing is driving brand new vehicles. The Goverment is paying these lazy peoples payments. Good grief get out and get a job, work for the vehicles you drive. I could care less about any stimulus payment. It’s just a big tease. This world is so messed up… There’s only one person that can take care of it..

    President Obama you and your family and all the congressman and women and senators state Reps and all the Rich people will never know what it feels like to be poor or low class income family who has worked hard all there life to rise and take care of there families. You will never be on social security or medicare to really know what it is to survive in this big world, President Obama, you have made it very hard for my family and all those who are in my shoes to survive for what you have done since you have been in office, the changes haven’t been for the lower income families, its for the rich and for yourself and your family. You are making 400,000 thousand a year as President and that is not including all the bonuses alone the way you have recieved. You are hurting my mother and others mothers and fathers that depeneded on you too do good for them. And now the health plan has hurts us in everyway possiable you can think about, what used to be a zero deduction is now a 75.00 dollar copay on my insurance and in the hospital was zero and now is a 50.00 a day for the first 10 days stay in the hospital. Everything has changed since you have been in office. You have taken away a pay increase in our social security checks and taking away stimlus checks and giving all of our money to bail out those big compaines who stole there money for there own benifit and there families so we suffer for them while they enjoy what you have done to help them out. well thanks Mr President for all your help I hope you find away to help out the low income like you helped out the rich ones. Fredom of speech I hope the next President will undone what you have done to this world, right now it is a mess and its not getting any better and the people wanted to see something good, but once your fours years are up, maybe some will vote for you to be elected again for President but not all the world, you may be just a one term President I don’t know but good luck
