2010 tax credits and deductions

October 14, 2009

The past years have been marked with a kind of stability when looking at it from an economic perspective. But the last part of 2008 and for the most part, 2009 has had a whole different story. The economic situation has gone bad and financial talks are always in the air because the goal is to be able to find someway to manage even when the economic crunch bites harder and harder. 2010 is hoped to present a friendlier economic time and two things that are hoped to do this among the many others are the 2010 tax credits and deductions.

Tax deductions are claimed by tax payers when they have other financial obligations that they have to meet. A classic case is a divorcee who is forced to pay alimony upon the divorce settlement. The said person can file a tax deduction on the reason of alimony payment to an ex-wife. Getting a deduction on tax can be heartwarming at times especially when the reason for getting it is bigger than yourself. For instance, most entrepreneurs getting into the business have great reasons to smile when they are starting off a road of self-management since they can claim tax deductions which are business related. These can be deductions on office assets and supplies and the total cost required for you to successfully run your business. You are also free to spread this to the insurance and security costs. Your 2010 Tax deductions enable you to pay a lower tax after most of your financial obligations are met and that is where most of the good news is

Tax credits on the other hand are better than tax deductions since they lead to the payment of lower tax in general. Credits are better in getting you to pay lesser tax in the context that you have already done so in some of your financial dealings. Now, the 2010 tax credits almost go hand in hand with home buying. That is because as far as owning a home is concerned, you are entitled to a tax credit of about 10% of the purchase price. That takes a load off of the tax for sometime and enables you to begin the long financial process that is owning a home. Tax credit is not this miracle thing on a silver platter since after reading between the lines, you get to realize that tax credit is more like some kind of loan but without interest that you get to pay over an extended period of time, in most cases more than a decade. There is nothing bad about it and there are no major disadvantages tagged to the idea, since most of the conditions that come with it are more than acceptable.

If you feel like you have some big financial venture that you want to pursue you should ensure that getting a 2010 tax credit or a 2010 tax deduction is somewhere in all that. You can be amazed at the huge load that will take off you and the head start you will have.
