250$ Social Security Stimulus Check in 2010

The US government is taking every measure to revive the economy and bring it out of the recession. President Obama has said that there will be a Social Security Stimulus Check in 2010 for $250. However, the final decision for this special measure is up to the congress. They should approve bill H.R.3557 – To provide an emergency cost-of-living increase for Social Security benefits for 2010 in their next session. This will be a bonus and will cost the government about $13 billion. The last couple of years has seen the worst slowdown in all the markets including the housing and financial markets which has caused a lot of problems to the economy. By the distribution of the social security stimulus check in 2010 the government hopes to stimulate the markets and the economy and the slowdown can be reversed.
Any individual who is at present receiving payment from Social Security is eligible for the Social Security stimulus check in 2010. Other people who will be eligible are veterans who are disabled, SSI (Supplement Security Income) recipients, and retired federal government employees. The retired employees of federal government who reside in states where social security is not received, even they will get this check. All these people will get the $250 check irrespective of their income level and whether they are working or not. The other people who are eligible to get the social security stimulus check in 2010 are the ones who have an income which is not taxable. If for some reasons these people are able to earn a taxable income after the receipt of this check then they will have to return it to the government or deduct the amount from the refund on federal tax.
The Social Security stimulus check is proposed to be paid by 31st March 2010. The mode of receipt of this check will be the same as how you get your usual payment of Social Security. If its made by check through the mail you will also get this check by mail. If you are getting an electronic payment directly into your bank account then the $250 will be directly paid into your account.
Calculation of Social Security monthly pay check amounts are based on the cost of living. Due to the recession this has not seen any rise, and this check is something to compensate for the same prevailing amount. This additional pumping of funds is supposed to boost the economy and also help the people who receive Social Security in general. It has been seen that Social Security forms an important source of income for a retiree and he receives about $1,150 per month. If you take the statistics, social security amounts, form 40% of all the income of elderly people put together. For one fifth of elderly married couples social security forms almost ninety percent of their income and for two fifths of the elderly singles as well.
The Social Security Stimulus Check which will be sent in 2010 for $250 can help to pay part of any of your debts especially credit cards. Although the amount is not much it will reduce your debt and your interest payments to that extent.

Why is it that social security recipients only get 250.00 and the rest of the country gets 600.00 and 300.00 per child?

they did not pass the 2010 stimulus! if you got 250 you got a rental return….i the stimulus was supposed to be for 300.
now here it is 2011, you think they care about anyone but themselves!!haha if you do you need to get your head checked…..
they sit in there warm 300-400k homes,with there full cabinets…they don’t care if we cant afford pills or other things we need, they have everything they need why should they care??
i wish for one week i could exchange lives!
how would they like having bone cancer and not being able to work and have 2 kids to support and have to live on a measly 714 a month!
my rent is 650 and i live in the worst niegborhood you could imagine!, my bills are 200 a month and that doesnt include household needs, or meds!
i guess its my fault i got bone cancer right?i dont deserve the right to be able to be my teenage son anything or my 6 year old the toys he wants….
on top of my rent and bills i now have to pay for my pills!!
so yeah i dont need my meds, i only have cancer thats no big deal right??oh yeah and i also have to now pay for my insulin!! oh i forgot i can live with out that right??
but once again i get no cola or stimulus!!!
this goverment needs to stop worrying about what going on in other countries and focus more on whats going on here!!
if they were to take the 50 billion there using to try to but in on anothers countries problems and use it here maybe and just maybe we wouldnt have 100 thousand people starving to death here or 300 million homeless!!
there so worried about the economy then stop raising the taxes to fight a war that shouldnt be going on, then maybe companies wont have to keep raising there prices, they should try giving back to the people who really need it, did anyone else think it was a little messed up giving millions to auto makers and banks and giving a lousy 300 to the people on disability???

these people seem to forget we elected them?????does anyone agree with me???if you do write a letter send it to the people who will probly ignore it anyways, right??? they tell you if you dont like it send a letter to your congress…..i do i send one every week…..for the last year and i still havent heard anything back..,…i wrote a letter to the president and i got a print out thank you response.,,,,,how fake and shallow could you get????

I am on Social Security, my husband is also on Social Security, as you know we have not gotten a cost of living raise for a couple of years now. Big problem is everything else has rised. Food, Utlilities, Gas and Housing expense, and cost of Medical Bills. Now you are or are not considering giving us our stimulas check. We need the extra money, one way or another. Our raise was never that much but it helped. A one time stimulas of $250.00 for the year, what does it really hurt the country?

i dont remember if we rec our stimalus check then or now …also we are in the donut hole we are to rec. 250.00 each person why have we not rec that help it sure could be used at christmas. for my grand kids and great grand kids..i am taking care of three grand kids and two great grandkids if dhs ok the adoption of the great grandkids…….would like to know if we are elgiable also we dont rec food stamps becaus ethey are my relation… please look into this situation quick a true american i am american iindian…thank you govt……..

It is evident that anyone over 65,disabled or a veteran does not matter anymore to this government. Since they have claimed that there was no cost of living increase this year my electricity has gone up 12 %, water and garbage for 3 months 22.00, gas has gone up and groceries has gone up. 250.00? Well that will pay for 1/4 of 1 months bills. Do you know why they say SS is going broke? Because for a long,long time they have dipped into the SS funds when they needed money for their “projects”. Now that they can’t pay it back we can just go to hell. I feel sorry for the younger generation and their families because the future is not promising. Time for a REAL revolution.

If the Government would stop spending so much money fixing up their office’s, stop using Limousines to get around town to show off to visiting dignitaries, get rid of the humongous expense accounts that they have, stop taking the way overly huge “Bonuses”? There might be enough money to give the people that rely on Social Security, SSI, and whatever the other Governments way of paying retirees, disabled, veterans, etc, raises in SS, maybe a bonus package, or enough money for those on these services to be able to live on, and not scratch the bottom of the barrel to be able to eat and make their bills for the month.

We, American’s, who have worked our whole life, 30, 40 years, paid in Social Security, can’t get our Socal Security disability. Now, we are praying for our $250 help, with food, and medicine. This will help, but we can’t get luxuary item, like Christmas presents. I have a moto, KEEP Christ in Christmas, and He will provide. So Obama, PLEASE release our $250 before Christmas, so some of us can eat a good meal.

My mother who is 87 got a check for 250.00 last week. We assumed it was the stimulus although I had not heard they were for sure getting it and I am a avid newswatcher.

if the congress don’t help the poor,then what are we living for.?..don’t he know that it’s not our fault that we were born in poverty?many of us have tried to make our lives richer..short of stealing…but who knows what the future is going to force the poor to do? is there going to be another riot in the streets?I surely hope the the gov.don’t push us to that point.its only a small amount out of billions that they have.i am on disability caused by the many medicines bet.2001-2004 and 2006-2008 (anti-depressants)that the gov. approved,maybe its the gov. fault why im disability,they should help us try to overcome our sitiuation..$250.00 is too less to help each of us to get on our feet….or develop more jobs for US in disabilities (THEY SURE CAN”T MAKE JOBS FOR OTHERS, SO WHO KNOWS?)that we can handle w/o loosing our income right away.

i know i am not the only grandparent in this situation, i am raising 4 of my grandchildren. i do not get welfare or food stamps for them. i have done my best to see that they get what they need, but it is getting harder all the time. the kids are 6, 8, 9, 12. without getting regular social security increases it is almost impossible to keep up with electric bills going up by 25%, and numerous others daily living cost increases. i am not asking for a hand out, only the retirement i was promised during all the years i worked. please think hard about all of us out here. we may not be big banks, or car companies, but we still need to survive. thank you for listening.

I think that they are just lair to us for we will vote for them and they are just sitting around they big table and laugh at us and spending moeny that they could help us out we having had a raise in 3 years and everything is going up higher everyday and we can get help we use to work before came to be disable and pay our tax to and look what we get out of it not nothing and they lie and say we will get around march ihave not see it and then they said we will get it in oct,nov. and it will be dec. and still having got it but they are going to have a good thankgiving and abig christmas and can’t get food to eat and we want be able to buy anything for chirstmas and we can’t get food stamp and if we do they just want to give u just 142.00 worth and they think we can live off of that i am on ssi and my house went is $400.00 a month and my lights is from 150.00 to 200.00 a month tell me how can i make it we need help so congress plesase have a heart and pass the bill please.

i really think he is dong a great job, you all need to wake up. this is a big world and he is tring to do all he can. it is not him it is the congress who turned down this 250 payment. i jlost every thing in the katrina strom and both of my legs as well, i can not work and before this storm i worked for 15 years so stop fucking complaining because my situation is way worst then yours. my son die in our home the night the storm pick my house up in the air and droped it in the middle o the street and but an big tree threw my home. i have been through a whole lot. they buried my son and i was in the hospital in cu. so be graceful for your life, just think it can be gone in the blink of an eye. i have been praying that this 250 comes quick , all we can do is praye. god bless

I am a senior that was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, My cobra insurance is now about to end and the insurance companies say you have to be cancer free for 5yr,8yr,and 10years to get medical insurance. Cobra is allowed to scalp you by charging 150 percent of your premium whats up with that Mr Obama????? I now face the decision to cancel my insurance till I get on medicare in July of 2011. Would you like to change places with me Mr Obama. I dont think so!!!!!!!!
