250$ Social Security Stimulus Check in 2010

The US government is taking every measure to revive the economy and bring it out of the recession. President Obama has said that there will be a Social Security Stimulus Check in 2010 for $250. However, the final decision for this special measure is up to the congress. They should approve bill H.R.3557 – To provide an emergency cost-of-living increase for Social Security benefits for 2010 in their next session. This will be a bonus and will cost the government about $13 billion. The last couple of years has seen the worst slowdown in all the markets including the housing and financial markets which has caused a lot of problems to the economy. By the distribution of the social security stimulus check in 2010 the government hopes to stimulate the markets and the economy and the slowdown can be reversed.
Any individual who is at present receiving payment from Social Security is eligible for the Social Security stimulus check in 2010. Other people who will be eligible are veterans who are disabled, SSI (Supplement Security Income) recipients, and retired federal government employees. The retired employees of federal government who reside in states where social security is not received, even they will get this check. All these people will get the $250 check irrespective of their income level and whether they are working or not. The other people who are eligible to get the social security stimulus check in 2010 are the ones who have an income which is not taxable. If for some reasons these people are able to earn a taxable income after the receipt of this check then they will have to return it to the government or deduct the amount from the refund on federal tax.
The Social Security stimulus check is proposed to be paid by 31st March 2010. The mode of receipt of this check will be the same as how you get your usual payment of Social Security. If its made by check through the mail you will also get this check by mail. If you are getting an electronic payment directly into your bank account then the $250 will be directly paid into your account.
Calculation of Social Security monthly pay check amounts are based on the cost of living. Due to the recession this has not seen any rise, and this check is something to compensate for the same prevailing amount. This additional pumping of funds is supposed to boost the economy and also help the people who receive Social Security in general. It has been seen that Social Security forms an important source of income for a retiree and he receives about $1,150 per month. If you take the statistics, social security amounts, form 40% of all the income of elderly people put together. For one fifth of elderly married couples social security forms almost ninety percent of their income and for two fifths of the elderly singles as well.
The Social Security Stimulus Check which will be sent in 2010 for $250 can help to pay part of any of your debts especially credit cards. Although the amount is not much it will reduce your debt and your interest payments to that extent.

I thought this stimulus check only went out to people that paid out over so much in there health care. I wasn’t expecting a stimulus check.
I sure could use it though. Come on Guy’s lets get this Bill Passed so I can get back to work. I want to see some real changes going on here. & I have some pretty good bullets now. What I mean by (bullets) as in info. To Prove What I said back 6 years ago that will help you now. & Us later on down the road. Pres. Obama, is a good man guy’s he has helped us more than anyone else. & I’m not saying that because I am a Obama, Girl either or that it’s election year. Just facing the Facts. [Update May 2010] Unfortunately the Democrat-controlled Senate has rejected a measure by a 50 to 47 vote that would have given seniors a one-time Social Security benefit payment of $250 to make up for the lack of a cost of living increase The jobs bill, which contained the $250 SSI provision, was rejected despite Obama’s backing. The payments which would amount to $13 billion, where earmarked in the jobs bill – which was deemed too costly by lawmakers trying to allay their image of big spenders. Now that lawmakers have slapped seniors, ssi recipients and disabled veterans in the face, the historical return is that this year marks the first time since 1975 that Social Security beneficiaries didn’t receive a cost of living increase. An extra payment may become a reality later this year if a new jobs bill is introduced to further extend unemployment benefits or the COLA provision IF President Obama’s budget is approved.

I have through the grapevine, heard that all welfare reciepients, that are of black race only, have recieved $900.00. Can anyone verify THIS? -

It’s Aug.27,2010 I have not seen my stimulus check yet…I feel that the ppl that getten (walfare) is getten more than we & if alot of ppl like me i don’t think that’s fair to us…I can use mines kids back in school & it can help a little.. Don’t only think of the ppl that get Walfare & Foodstamps…Ppl that get SSI: Social Security & other benifits need help too…Don’t think of some ppl think of them all…These days & time ppl do need the extra help….

Im a kidney patient and now have to live on social security which is not enough to live on i can barely pay bills they said we would get a stimulus payment of 250.00 in march 2010 it is now august and we are still waiting .when will we recieve some help .congress needs to pass this bill please help us.

Here it is 8/16/2010 and there hasn’t been a check in the amount of $250.00 from the Social Security Administration. There was a time long a go and far away that there was an increase benefits of 2% but it was something to increase SSI by about $20.00 per month. Now that has been taken away and we might see $250 a year if we are lucky. This is certainly a well deserved Thank you for the senior citizens who contributed to this society these past years —- left in the dust……..

Forget the Stimulus. The OBamas have spent it on high priced hotels, vacations, clothes, running around the country at our expense. They can’t do the job that the stupid people who voted for the jerk expected of him. The poor people haven’t got a hope when you see Queen OBama in Spain acting like she is the Queen. They make me sick to see what they are doing to America. If they get what they want we may never get rid of them. I can’t forget or forgive the speech where she said she has never loved or cared for her country. And guess what they elected them anyway. I feel for the people who can’t afford the medicine they hav to take to live. I can’t afford insurance and am not eligible for medicare for another coupe years plus. We I’m eligible it will take money frommy check that I can’t afford. We paid in for medicare for years why do we have it taken out of our SS checks now.

this is the worst treatment i have ever seen for people on ssi or disabilty our gov has no problem bailing out huge rich banks and auto makers but says we do not need cost of living raise and if we are getting a stimulus check where is it i applyed for a loan in feb thinking i could pay it back in march ouch paid back three hundred above loan now i am applying for food stamps dought i get them either cant even afford all my meds but congress says we dont need a raise sad

I have not received my stimulus money either (July 30) I really need mine too.l
I only draw $559 a month disability check and I have to budget every penny.
