250$ Social Security Stimulus Check in 2010

The US government is taking every measure to revive the economy and bring it out of the recession. President Obama has said that there will be a Social Security Stimulus Check in 2010 for $250. However, the final decision for this special measure is up to the congress. They should approve bill H.R.3557 – To provide an emergency cost-of-living increase for Social Security benefits for 2010 in their next session. This will be a bonus and will cost the government about $13 billion. The last couple of years has seen the worst slowdown in all the markets including the housing and financial markets which has caused a lot of problems to the economy. By the distribution of the social security stimulus check in 2010 the government hopes to stimulate the markets and the economy and the slowdown can be reversed.
Any individual who is at present receiving payment from Social Security is eligible for the Social Security stimulus check in 2010. Other people who will be eligible are veterans who are disabled, SSI (Supplement Security Income) recipients, and retired federal government employees. The retired employees of federal government who reside in states where social security is not received, even they will get this check. All these people will get the $250 check irrespective of their income level and whether they are working or not. The other people who are eligible to get the social security stimulus check in 2010 are the ones who have an income which is not taxable. If for some reasons these people are able to earn a taxable income after the receipt of this check then they will have to return it to the government or deduct the amount from the refund on federal tax.
The Social Security stimulus check is proposed to be paid by 31st March 2010. The mode of receipt of this check will be the same as how you get your usual payment of Social Security. If its made by check through the mail you will also get this check by mail. If you are getting an electronic payment directly into your bank account then the $250 will be directly paid into your account.
Calculation of Social Security monthly pay check amounts are based on the cost of living. Due to the recession this has not seen any rise, and this check is something to compensate for the same prevailing amount. This additional pumping of funds is supposed to boost the economy and also help the people who receive Social Security in general. It has been seen that Social Security forms an important source of income for a retiree and he receives about $1,150 per month. If you take the statistics, social security amounts, form 40% of all the income of elderly people put together. For one fifth of elderly married couples social security forms almost ninety percent of their income and for two fifths of the elderly singles as well.
The Social Security Stimulus Check which will be sent in 2010 for $250 can help to pay part of any of your debts especially credit cards. Although the amount is not much it will reduce your debt and your interest payments to that extent.

we have patiently been awaiting the 250.00 stimulus check for 2010. will we ever get it. i mean we neeed it worse than all these people getting raises and bonuses thats already rich. and all these bank bailouts arent helping us any in way. its time someone could answer our questions.

First off,why advertise that we are getting the damn check to begin with before they even knew for sure? I am struggling to survive on SSi and with the cost of my wife’s medicines that 250$ would have meant allot to us.The man down at the bank got a huge check from the govt with his income tax and then gets an even bigger check after that from the govt. They keep taking away from from us what we worked so hard to receive threw the years. They don’t want us to smoke,but yet they allow them to make new brands everyday.Take away from Social Security to give to the rich and think because we are old we do not need it anymore? It is not the president’s fault, he is trying to get these bills past congress,but those idiots just only care about themselves and supporting other countries who they think need it more than we do. Kick back in their lounger and smoke their big fat cigars while sticking it to us for doing the same.I love this country and still believe in what it was founded on,but our greedy political leaders only care about one thing, their big fat cigars and their fat wallets.They do not care how we feel,only their power hungry,greedy,righteous selves matter to them.

Am I understanding thisarticle, are we on Social Security supposed to begetting a $250.00 stimuluscheck? If I am reading this correctly it says by March 31st, I haven’t seen one though it wuld help tremendously, Is ths all a big hoax? Car companies, banks & etc can get bailed out but the citizenssit and worry aswell as fret about making house payments, bil payments & struggle to keep food on the table &care for their families, Where is their bailout? YOu are counting on the taxes being paid by taxpayers and yet you don’t worry how they will be able to live!!!!

we need that 250.00 stimulus.i am disable not making enough to live on. i cant get foodstamps cause they said im over by 2.00.i been disable all my life. and this is so stupid. we got a president that supposly be a president and run things but as i see it we a under president that has the congress telling him whats no or yes.dang president u say yr going to do this and that we should had been the 1st ones to be on top of all list.and now it seems the president is not running this united states its the congress that running things.why have a president if he got to run it by congress. geeeeeeeeeeeee just give us our moneyy or start giving the ssa and vets and etc.. a dam raise. what happen to we r the people.what abt our freedom.its all gone thanks to president obama and his so call congress.

the stimulus money not arriving is scaring some of us but i’m thinking they are trying to increase the amount of monies sent out everyone should call them i checked it out and the most recently the amount was much greater please send higher to highest amounts we very much need it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well now first I get it stuck by the banks buying a home then the goverment sticks me again. I buy a house but the laspe of rules for the bank takes most of my money for them. Then I find out that I only get 10% of what i bought the house for and I still am waiting for the stimulus for buying a house. I submitted my income tax tax for it way back in Feb and I still am being questioned on information and no one has reviewed it yet. I guess I will be waiting for a long time for it. I have reapairs to do before winter but who the heck cares. I got no COLA in my social security and now I don’t get $250 that Obama promised. I am so disappointed in Obama and Congress. what the heck are we paying u for? Sit on your tuffs and say yes or no or I don’t know. I bet u aren’t waiting to do repairs. I am not even sure I will vote again for what false hopes. we should fire all of u and start freash with people that listen and know what is going on with the people of a great Nation USA>

i would truly like to say i did vote for president obama that i think he would take care of the back bone of our country that keeps our country afloat and going into a deep recession where we cannot survive and i believe it is critcal that president obama gets one time payment resolved and taken care of asap so we can try to stabilize our economy i still believe i made the right choice to vote for president obama.

Well if we are not getting the check and the COLA is out the window,not much we can do.I for one worked 37 years, had 3 heart attacks in a 9 week period,have advanced COPD,and I worked hard for that SSDI.I also noticed our medicare part D co-pays doubled.I’m spending about 20% of my measly check on the meds,then another 68% on my slum I rent, that leaves a whopping 12% on my check to survive the whole flipping month on.Oh and my food stamp benefits went down 30% in the state in which I live.I guess if you kill off the disabled and the retired,then there be anyone left that needs S.S. and the govt. can do away with it a bit early.It’s a sad day when a Vietnam Vet who killed needlessly for this country,then worked hard to fit in to the society he came home to,paid his damn taxes,and now he has to look in trash barrels for scraps of food.Health care reform???How about we bring our troops home,and send half the politicians to afghanistan,and the half to Iraq, and all their aids and interns can go fix that gushing oil well in the gulf thats gonna drive alot species to near extinction,along with the “human” resident’s!!What the hell is a British Co. doing in our water’s?OH thats right their own water are so foul,and their monarchy will not permit them to suck the blood out of their own water’s!!Hey….didn’t we kinda save their butt’s in WWII.If they can afford the estimated what ?2 or 3 billion $$ it may cost to clean it up, not to mention the item’s you cant put a price on then they can afford to give us “yanks”250.00 each, and relocate us to their “clean” water’s so our commercial fishing industry does not go under!!When will we as a people say “I’ve had enough”!!! The good news -our past leaders developed a SS plan for what they thought would make retirement and the physical disabling of age easier. Problem-time and financial misuse of government has dropped SS income to a teaser amount and it hasn’t stopped there. The 2009 stimulus check did not make it to my bank account. The VA filed for payment of medication co-pays that I could not pay because of low fixed income, and now that there was no COLI for 2010, I am farther behind than before. Paying $10.00 a month on a $6,000.00 hospital bill that I could not afford insurance for and Medicare would not cover because it was an ER trauma visit puts my bank account in jeopardy of legal filing of funds by some collection attorney’s office. Want to enjoy my retirement and elder years, but how can I?

I don’t know if it’s true,
I keep getting mixed messages..
I won’t get excited about it,

I AM ON DISABILITY AND AT THE FIRST OF THE YEAR I RECEIVED MY LETTER FROM S.S. STATING WE WOULD NOT BE RECEIVING A RAISE THIS YEAR BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THERE HAD BEEN NO COST OF LIVING INCREASE. I DON’T KNOW WHERE THEY ALL LIVE BUT WHERE I LIVE EVERYTHING HAS INCREASED. THEN THEY SAID WE WOULD GET A STIMULUS CHECK FOR $250.00 AND NOW WE ARE NOT EVEN GETTING THAT. I WOULD ALMOST BET THOUGH ( IF I HAD THE MONEY ) THAT THEY ALL GOT RAISES. I THINK THIS IS A BUNCH OF BULL ****. I KNOW I COULD HAVE USED THE COLA OR THE $250.00. Tax the Rich people hard and check their returns closely, we all know they have accountants and lawyers that find and create loop holes to cheat on tax returns and other things. Most of them became rich by sucking it out of the poor by rent increases, overcharging, high interest rates, and price increases on food, gas, housing, and housing taxes, Etc; but they got the money for lawyers, judges and the like. Try to sue them and you will lose!!!!!! The present government will not get the votes from the poor and the ones they made poor. So goodbye Obama and the rest of you next election.

I NEED any help I can get. Living on disability is not easy. We didn’t get our cost of living increase on our checks this year and now no stimulus check. How do they expect people to live? Medications, rent, etc. has to come out of our checks. It doesn’t go far and even taking a little hurts a lot.

I have worked all my life and still ca not retire due to costs. The goverment should have bailed out the people of the United States not the banks and etc. A one time check for every working person who is a citizen for a large amount would have boosted the econmony. Now they will not even give social security a small check of 250.00 . Let them go with a paycheck of the many hard working people who are the baclbone of this country. My parents worked hard and taught me to do the same. Neither made it to collect social security, where did their money go? We need to get back to old school and make ourselves proud again.

I think it is so wrong for the goverment to first not give social security recipients their much needed COLA and now taking away their stimulus checks which they had counted so much and would had helped tremendously. Government helps out auto dealerships and banks and come to aid of other countries when they should be helping the poor americans more which are the heart of America.

I believe it is unfair by all means that people on limited income, like us social security recipients will not be getting the $250 stimulus check. First they take away our cola and now this. It is a shame that government can help bail out banks and auto dealerships when they are in trouble but will not help the poor people which is also the heart of America. Obama, you did not get my vote the first time and you will not get it again. Why even bother voting when everything is based in lies.
