250$ Social Security Stimulus Check in 2010

The US government is taking every measure to revive the economy and bring it out of the recession. President Obama has said that there will be a Social Security Stimulus Check in 2010 for $250. However, the final decision for this special measure is up to the congress. They should approve bill H.R.3557 – To provide an emergency cost-of-living increase for Social Security benefits for 2010 in their next session. This will be a bonus and will cost the government about $13 billion. The last couple of years has seen the worst slowdown in all the markets including the housing and financial markets which has caused a lot of problems to the economy. By the distribution of the social security stimulus check in 2010 the government hopes to stimulate the markets and the economy and the slowdown can be reversed.


Any individual who is at present receiving payment from Social Security is eligible for the Social Security stimulus check in 2010. Other people who will be eligible are veterans who are disabled, SSI (Supplement Security Income) recipients, and retired federal government employees. The retired employees of federal government who reside in states where social security is not received, even they will get this check. All these people will get the $250 check irrespective of their income level and whether they are working or not. The other people who are eligible to get the social security stimulus check in 2010 are the ones who have an income which is not taxable. If for some reasons these people are able to earn a taxable income after the receipt of this check then they will have to return it to the government or deduct the amount from the refund on federal tax.

The Social Security stimulus check is proposed to be paid by 31st March 2010. The mode of receipt of this check will be the same as how you get your usual payment of Social Security. If its made by check through the mail you will also get this check by mail. If you are getting an electronic payment directly into your bank account then the $250 will be directly paid into your account.

Calculation of Social Security monthly pay check amounts are based on the cost of living. Due to the recession this has not seen any rise, and this check is something to compensate for the same prevailing amount. This additional pumping of funds is supposed to boost the economy and also help the people who receive Social Security in general. It has been seen that Social Security forms an important source of income for a retiree and he receives about $1,150 per month. If you take the statistics, social security amounts, form 40% of all the income of elderly people put together. For one fifth of elderly married couples social security forms almost ninety percent of their income and for two fifths of the elderly singles as well.


The Social Security Stimulus Check which will be sent in 2010 for $250 can help to pay part of any of your debts especially credit cards. Although the amount is not much it will reduce your debt and your interest payments to that extent.

    This is what we get for working our butts off all of our lives…we pay into this system by way of paying taxes, etc. When it’s time to get something back…we have to fight tooth and nail! What I don’t understand is, how can someone who has never worked or worked very little, collect a disability check? It seems every time I go to the local Social Security office, I am the only one speaking English!!!
    Not only that, but it seems if you are a drug addict or an alcoholic you get priority treatment ! Don’t get me wrong…I love all people, but why is it I sit here stretching my measly disability check to pay rent and bills while others get money, housing, etc. I am confused and pissed off as hell !!! America is no longer the “land of the free” it’s the “land for free handouts” and it seems that American born citizens and workers take a back seat!

    I receive soc. sec. for disability. I haven’t received the $250. Is this a joke or what? We people who are disabled need it desperately due to high cost on medical expenses.

    Ya, I thought we were receiving a stimulus check for this year. we all who are disabled, and the elderly have to pay bills just like the working people, I have worked all my life, and did not chose to be disable, but thats life, some of my family live in auroura ill and have recieved a letter months ago, saying they will recieve a check for 250 i just wonder when will it come to pass.

    FOLKS—————–the congress voted ……………….NOT… to give the $250 to anyone….I repeat…CONGRESS VOTED the $250 DOWN..(back in april)…None of us will get the money…. THose greedy jerks.. they can get raises, and bonuses, yet we on the lower end suffer…. unlike the amount that was noted in social sec payments of 1150, i AINT EVEN GETTING THAT…. try 800… greedy arse wipes…

    just come off the money already you guys sure help the drugies and the nasty child preditors that dont need to be here walking the same street as us. if you all can help them then by god you can help the low income to do you get what im saying we had worked hard for the money my dad bust his butt for what so you guys dont help is grandaughter who has to go back and forth to riley hospital he has worked for as long as i can remember and you guys dont care about all that you just care about helping the ones who do bad things and need to be locked up off our streets away from our children so just come off the money already

    I have to agree with the rich get richer and poor get poorer. My husband was in the marine corp during vietnam, when he got out he worked hard driving truck over the road leaving our 3 children and myself at home for days at a time to try to keep a roof over our heads and food, furniture,gas,homes, etc to all you rich congress people who I guess did not and do not appreciate what we had to go through to keep you in the wealth dept. Now he is totally disable and you don’t care. He fought to keep you alive in the service and then fought while his family sufferd to keep you in food, clothing and etc. Now how fair is that. If it wasn’t for we the poor people you would not have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of and that is the facts and then you treat us this way. How unfair is that no appreciation at all from any of you one way people. We get no raises or stimuluses but ecomony goes up, your wages go up and live high on the hog while we the people that put you where you are, are fighting to survive because of your selfishness.

    STRUGGLE DAY AFTER DAY.TO TRY TO MAKE END’S MEET.THE SENTOR’S&CONGRESSMEN DO NOT HAVE A CLUE TO WHAT OUR DAILY

    I AGREE WITH THE OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINTS, THEY ARE ABLE TO BUY JUST ABOUT ANYTHING THEY WANT AND THE POOR PEOPLE STRUGGLE JUST TO MAKE ENDS MEET, WE HAVE TO SAY A PRAYER AFTER WE PAY OUR BIIL,AND THANK GOD FOR LETTING US DO IT FOR ONE MORE MONTH , EVERYTHING IS GONE UP, MOST PEOPLE CAN’T AFFORD CABLE TV SO WE HAVE TO BUY THE ANTENA JUST TO EVEN LITE OUR TV UP, THE WORST THE ECONOMY IS IT SEEMS EVERYTHING IS MUCH HIGHER.     I too am awaiting my 250.00 check.and here it is the end of July..I know the mail is slow ,but come on..This is the first time in History since the act went into effect that we haven’t got a cost of living..Thanks Mr President and Congress.I will remember whom to vote for now..All that hope and change.Well your right, theres a lot of hope we will all survive this and the change is all going in thier pockets..My husband fought for this country and got medically retired from Iraq in 2008.If you dont have boots on the ground you are not needed and the older we get the less they all care..I get the feeling we are all just a bother to them..I’m sure if it was them getting a little 250.00 which they probably spend on thier lunch.It all would be different..Maybe they mean next March or the March after that..or how dumb do they think we all are just because they can…

    I have heard different dates for seniors stimulus check. I do not understand money for foreign oil leaks money for politicians raise. The senior citizen gets the shaft and our gutless leaders get the mine. This is hell being 74 and cant afford anything the government help its self to our money. This is bull—-. Remember election not to far off.

    our dear democrats you passed unemploment extension benefits you don”t have any excuse why youshould not pass the bill that take care of people that work many many years and paid a lot of money,taxes,ect. people of social security income.A bill that democrat president suggested about a year ago do it and don”t too much if you democrats want to keep your jobs when elections comes,and it”s very soon. thanks and good luck.

    Today is July 21, 2010. I just read that the 2010 stimulus check was to be paid by March 31st. What happened. I didn’t get it. Where’s the $$$$$. We can sure use it….Thanx to all of you that said “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”.
    How true is this???? ….and, Yes, the shoe should be on the other foot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    here it is almost the last of july and i havent receive my stimplus check for $250.00 or maybe more.we didnt get a raise on our social security checks i really could use that $250.00 like most people so are we getting it or not.july will be over in a few more days.today is the 17th.

    I’ve had it with Congress. I always thought they were for the people? What a joke.They’re only concerned about themselves. Only worring about their vacations, and not giving a damn about the people who put them into office. Believe me I’ll remember who voted against this help when it comes time to vote.
    They sure won’t get my vote, or my wifes. The old saying is the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, how true is this?? Maybe if the shoe was on the other foot they would have a better understanding of what this stimulus check means to us. Maybe not!! I’m tired of listening to their bull when it comes time for their political agenda and they want our vote. Be sure that I will remember who wasn’t there for me and my wife. Count on it………………….

    last 2 years everyone got 250 dollars stimulas check.and know for some reason are raise has stopped.i have 2 children with multidisibilities and pay child support for another child.i receive ssa and ssi.it barely gets me through the month.my kids need summer clothes. school clothes coming up and i still owe school fees.i can barely put food on the table half the time.i gotta go to food pantrys.and it is just so imbarassing.please congress pass the stimulas bill for 2010.our cost of living has went up extremely.those who dont have faith need to pray and go to church and live right and get saved if ur not.the lord is the only one that can answer ur prayers. keep ur faith and ur heart with the lord,

    i think the people should get what our ( president) said he was going to do.
    you stoped the raises for two years.but youcan not give the people the $250.
    that its up to congress. will i have a frend that is disable.two years with out
    her ssi raise. and now the $250 is hard to get.. who is for the people
    who can we trust.if your going to do this now i hate to see what your going to
    do the rest of the year.

    I don’t care whoes side your on I just wanna know if we got another one or what ,because after paying bills this month I figured i’d have 60.00 too last the rest of the month ,this includes phone automadic paymeant also,but when I called the bank it said I’ve got 268.98 ,and sence I didn’t recieve any kind of letter like last time …. I’m relugent too go withdraw it and spend it because I don’t want too faulted later… If anybody can help let me know…

    I would just like to know, when congress is going to vote again? If they were voting for their money, it would already be done. I raise my handicapped granddaughter and i could really use the money. VOTE VOTE VOTE AND VOTE YES. Were people, and were the people that voted most of you in, but i’ll have second thoughts next time. Just remember one day this will come back to haunt you, so say yes to our stimulus check.     Congress is trying to hurt obama at all cost even if it means hurting people now that’s the real reason behind congress not allowing the ssi and social security stimulus checks be issued! It’s time to take a real long look at who’s behind the scene making crazy decision based upon hate (racial) and jealousy asking themselves why obama I can not wait until the truth is reveal because what’s in the dark always comes out to the light always! we need to starting looking at congress are they for the people or for themselves and personal feelings against obama?

    I was looking forward to the $250. stimulus money too. Congress voted NO. Well, people, its time for us to start voting again. find out how your congressman voted on this bill and vote him/her out. We can do something. If our Senators and Congresssmen figure people on SS and SSD don’t vote, then we get NOTHING. Find out who your state Representative is. Who your Congressman is. Write it down. When it comes time to vote. Vote them OUT. Just show them how many of us are out here and that our voices will count. They want to ignore us? They can hit the streets by being voted out of office. Stop whinning and vote!! Its the only way things are going to change. When they are nervous about their bread and butter, i’ll bet they will stop and think a little longer about those of us who are less fortunate then they are. Vote them out! Vote them out! Vote them out by voting against them when they come up for re-election.

    i to am on ssi an was hoping to get a stimulas check to help get my daughters stuff for school. what we need to do is get rid of the ones in congress that dont want to support obama,and also even thought hes not president any longer we should get rid of george asshole bush for good. obama was thowed up into this mess on his own,he cant do it overnight.i support obama he is tring his best.
