American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, also abbreviated as ARRA is enacted by United States Congress in February 2009. There are other enactments which are Economic Stimulus Act 2008, Emergency Stabilisation Act of 2008 and Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP).


American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 aims at federal tax cuts, increase in unemployment benefits and promotes social welfare provisions. Further this Act also encourages spending in education, health care, infrastructure and energy sector. These are key areas where there can be more contribution to the economy. Keeping all these in view, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has been enacted and this Act is much action oriented and in fact more larger than the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008.

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has drawn a stimulus package worth $787 billion and this package mainly focuses on taxes, unemployment and social welfare. The Act has several sections and provisions with sub sections each detailing about various issues of tax cuts for individuals, tax cuts for companies, healthcare, education and aim to low income groups, unemployed people and retird people. The Act also states how to make investment in infrastructure such as construction of roads, railways, bridges, sewers and transportation. How to make supplemental investments and also in energy, housing, scientific research and in other areas.

If a close analysis is made about American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, those areas in which there are severe concerns for improvements have been included and by way of stimulus package, an improvement in this area has been instigated which is very good and very optimizing. Once the funds are sourced into these areas, there is definitely a step forward to improve and make fast development. Focusing on recovery is very important and this has to done on time and with a proper target of achievements and objectives.

Computer technology and Internet technology have much advanced now and there is computerisation in every nation and as more and more people are learning to work on computers, there is speed in working and there scope for more transparency in work. This will definitely will improve education methods and there is also greater scope for greater research and development. Keeping all these view the enactment of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 aims at identifying those areas which are backward or lagging behind in development and through the provisions of this enactment, much funding is made into those areas to develop and work towards growth. This will help the government to also check the results produced in such less developed areas wherein investments have been made for the progress and growth.


To a great extent, this Act has achieved maximum results and benefits for the government as the identification of growth and propsective areas will be focused and much more research will be made and those areas which require infrastructural development will also be workedout with a view to enhance the potential capacity and working ability of professionals.
