Senior Stimulus Check in 2010

The Stimulus Check is when the previous president of the United States sent out checks to all citizens of the United States in the hope of easing the effect the economic downturn had on the citizens and their households.


In 2009, President Obama passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 which enabled several stimulus checks to boost the economy. In 2009 the stimulus check was given to United States citizens as social security benefits, military pensioners and railroad pensioners. A one time payment $ 250 was given. Senior citizens are eligible as well. Citizens who are employed were also eligible for the stimulus check in 2009 and it is very likely that they will qualify for the SSI 2010 stimulus check as well. Those who are employed are also given a tax rebate on their salaries, which gives them spending power.

The 2010 stimulus plan will be the same as the stimulus plan that was in place in 2009. Senior citizens, those living on social security benefits and pensioners are hopeful that they will get their check on a weekly basis, but recent reports indicate that President Obama has announced that a one-time $250 stimulus check will be made in 2010 to recipients of Social Security. However it’s up to Congress to approve this bill. Senior citizens in the country are really worried about not getting the stimulus check for 2010.

Who is really eligible for the stimulus 2010? – Those depending on Social Security payments, Pensioners, unemployed citizens, veterans and the disabled.

By what date in 2010 can senior citizens expect the check? – It is not known which day or month the check will be sent but rumor has it that the check will be finalized and will go out before the end of March 2010. According to officials at the white house, the costs of all the stimulus checks are to top $ 13 – $14 billion for 2010 as well.

However, even though there are reports that confirm that senior citizens are eligible for the 2010 check as well, President Obama has to justify to the lawmakers that this is going to help the economy

It said that the 2010 plan would follow the economic recovery checks sent out during the spring of 2009 to senior citizens, disabled workers and some veterans as part of the broader stimulus package. Those veterans who qualify would include those who are currently on disability compensation, dependency compensation, and pension payouts and veterans who are receiving social security benefits are also eligible for the $250 check.

The senior stimulus check for 2010 is eligible only to citizens of the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam.


The check is aimed at helping those senior citizens and veterans who are being hit the most by the recession. These senior citizens and veterans should be allowed to enjoy their retirement benefits, but sadly that has not been the case since the economic downturn.

However, government officials are keeping a tight lip when veterans query on when they will actually receive the checks

    you guys think people on ssi are just looking for a hand out you try living in the shoes of one of us hurting so damn bad that u cant get outa bed or being bipolar and not knowing how your going to feel when you wake up because every day your emotions are so out of hand that you feel like your on a roller coaster ride or being so depressed that you wanna crawl in a hole and die every day until you can say you lived in those shoes you need to stfu and get real trust me god gives things back 10 fold when you harm others no matter weather it be with your fist or with your words

    Yes disabled people can work, but there are alot that can’t. You are rude. No one gets handouts.. We all work for what we get, in one way or another. Money is spent wisely. ones who condem ss and disabled probably born with a silver spoon in their mouths and dont know what the heck hard work is. They live like our government. lol. greedy, ubnoxious people in this world anymore. No compassion. Karma is a funny thing. WHen you get down and can’t work. have to have help everyday just to get up. You will find out. Sorry for you. really am. What ever happened to common people helping each other.. Greed has taken over… i don’t have much but what I do have I WORKED for and PAID into ss and disabilty benifits all my working years. It is a shame. that people and our government can be so cruel.. you will be old someday. and I pitty you. WHen you get there you will understand….. Maybe.

    Well, all you people get over it. I suffered from a brain tumor which was not benign but it took away my life at 46 and left me almost blind, actually blind in one eye and no peripheal vision in the other, so technically blind!!!! So stop sniveling. I did not ask to be disabled, I worked all my life, raised 2 kids and sometimes worked 2 jobs, and now i cannot do anything, not even drive. I get 922 a month because i have to pay 110 a month for my own medicare. But i still keep hoping and praying every day that something will come to me, but i am just about to give up. I moved to Colorado to help my sister through her lung cancer and she cannot even get on anything and she has to pay almost 700 dollars a month for her insurance. Need i say more????

    I AM 71 HAVE WORKED OVER 40YRS.I AM STILL PAYING ON A HOME HAVE TAXES TO PAY WHICH I DO NOT SEE HOW I CAN MEET THEM IF I DON’T GET THIS STIMULUS CHECK. MY DAUGHTER IS DISABLED AND LIVES AT HOME WITH ME.PRESIDENT IT IS UP TO YOU TO HELP US SENIORS & VETERANS WITH THIS 250.00.DO YOUR THING AND SIGN,OK.YOU HAVE THE POWER.

    I worked for 40 years and now am uable to work from working like a mule all of my life. As for that little old lady (66) working at walmart, do you know that she is probaly drawing her social security and getting paid by walmart. After you turn a certian age you can make as much money as you want and still draw a social security check! Get your facts straight!

    wow, some of you need help. id like to see those of you who think that those of us that are on ssi and ssd dont need it. i want you to try this for one or two months. live off of 650 buck just for one month. pay all your bills, be it your car payment on up to the cell phone bill and see what you have left.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I know that I heard that Congress voted no, but I will find out for sure. The President should have the final say about these matters. If he doesn’t have any say, why do we need a President anyway? I really think that Congress and the Senate are getting too big for their britches.
    If I was the President, I would make sure that the people of the U.S. would get what they deserved as far as tax credits, more jobs, etc. I don’t care what anyone says: We need a woman president, because it takes a woman to clean up after the men, we have been doing it for hundreds of years.

    Me and my husband have been taking care of his father for 3yrs and he deserve everything that he get. He is completly deaf and he has seizures he lost his wife 3yrs ago. before he became sick he was a very hard worker wait till u get old all yall youngsters better hope yall have someone to take care of yall when yall get old. Im 34 yrs old and our life revolve around my father-n-law so that 250 is well earned and someno. handouts! Do my father-n-law qualify$

    WHO THINKS THAT PEOPLE ON SSI DO NOT DESERVE A STIMULUS CHECK. YES I A M ON A COMPUTER TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE STIMULUS PAYMENT BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHAT FAIRY TALE WORLD YOU LIVE IN BUT LIVING ON SOCIAL SECURITY IS NOT A DREAM COME TRUE. I AM ON OXYGEN 24/7 AND ONLY 60 YEARS OLD AND I WORKED AS LONG AS MY BODY WOULD LET ME, AND I ASSURE YOU MISSY THAT I HAVE WORKED ALOT HARDER AND ONE LAST THING I AM NOT ASKING FOR HANDOUTS I PAID IN SOCIALSECURITY AND I WORKED MORE IN ONE WEEK THAN YOU DO IN A WHOLE YEAR.     i started my ss last feb.2009, i didn;t get a raise or stimlus ck. now they say we don;t get a raise for 2010 or 2011. we are humans just as well as the fat cats that get alot of freebies we pay for and have to cut back because we are older people. ha! i;d like to see them live off like we do . they would have a hard time because they are use to living well, me i;m use to it and could handle it. god provides for us.and what come around goes around for them.senior lives hasn;t changed .we live the same as last year , year before. and i had help with my rx plan last year. but this year can;t get it. if they didn;t put down what we pay for medicare , i could of got help.i;m not wanting much.just help me with my rx plan payment. but boy they sued the tobacco co. and got it. but they can;t help the people who helped them get the money. where the money go?? now the gov.telling us what we can do . they think well we won;t be here long oh well . they don;t care.

    There sure are some bitter people out there towards SS recopients. Not only do I receive SSI, I also have been blessed witha housing subsidy which makes my SSI able to meet all of my needs. My rent for a nice apartment (not in low income housing complex) is only $112.00 per month. I get $80 per month towards my utilities from the housing program. I have state health insurance and don’t have to pay any deductibles and all my medication is covered. I don’t have the luxury of a car, but so what, I stay in shape riding a bicycle. My needs are met well (as I am responsible with my SSI payment) and I welcome the $250.00 stimulus check…money meant to spend. And I already know what I’m going to do with it…Take a trip to California to see a great blues band and have FUN. I’ll spend the money on a bus ticket, a motel room, paying to get into the club, and eating out…all helping to stimulate the economy with spending. All year long I use my SSI to take care of my NEEDS. Everyone needs to have fun, and this stimulus check will give me my chance.

    in case you forgot we earned our sociial securitie checks same as the the younger ones putting in. Don!t deny seniors any extra benefits we did not get a raise this year the stimulous check was to help out on this. Remember you will all be seniors one day be glad their is social security. Do you have a better idea. Lets hear it.

    i worked more than 30 y rs at several civil service jobs, city. county and and us.gov.
    because at that time the gov didnt deduct ss paments, i lost 5 yrs paymemts, i still receive a rather good amount of retirement and ss to support myself . some are not as fortunate and i sympathize. family should help those critizing should donate to food and energy banks. you never know where the road leads and whose shoes you may be walking in have a little love!!!!!!!!!!

    If they would stop giving handouts to ILLEGAL Immigrants in this country there would be more than enough to take care of our LEGAL citizens.
    Obama’s Aunt is a perfect example. Living off the taxpayer for years now.
    Getting welfare and living in public subsidized housing.

    God forbid that you should ever have to live like a lot of us who get SS or SSA. Personally, I don’t think you could handle it!!. some of us where not blessed to be financially secure, some of us needed Disability years ago but because certain diseases where not ‘on the list’ we lost years and years of social security income in the years that most mattered. We CAN’T work. I don’t think you understand that terminology….

    You speak to us like we are mere garbage and I personally take offense to your ugly comments. I’m also thinking you are young – calling a 66 year old a little old lady… wait until you get there…

    I hope sometime in your life you learn compassion for those less fortunate than yourself.

    My SS is $585 a month after medicare and my health insurance deductions… try living on that! that’s because I had to quite working 10 years early.

    There is not a company that would hire me… two lower back surgeries, fibromyalgia so bad that I can’t get out of bed some days, depression, severe anxiety due to constant pain, inability to focus and concentrate . You have no idea…….

    As far as spending wisely not much 2 spend either way after the bills r paid if partial pymt counts. As far ssa when it was designed it would have been enough if the GOV. Did it right wait til u need it if ur not rich let’s c how you’ll feel about it then. As far as the net its possible 2 have it from a cell in a more affordable package , its better than landline anyway thnx

    You know the government doesnot care about the seniors,if they help the seniors in any way that will take money from them. If you take the money from them they will not want the job of setting in their office trying to kill off all the seniors drawing SS (that worked their hole life paying into SS) so they can have the money for themselfs. So why did we pay this all our working lifes?

    GET A JOB!!!!! You folks complain about your SS checks and Disability Checks not meeting your needs. BS! Spend it wisely. I mean come on most of you are setting online (which your paying for) and complaining about the Stimulus Checks. No one is responsible for your life but you.

    You all knew good and well that you couldn’t live on SS benefits. So why complain. Just go do something about it. I know someone in a freaking wheel chair who barely speaks but they are working at WALMART. Who by the way hires. :) I also know some little ole lady age about 66 working at MCDONALDS. Why? Because she said she makes more on a 40 hour week at McDonald’s making 7.25 and hour than she does on SS.

    Wow, get the idea now.?

    I don’t believe anyone is ENTITLED to the stimulus money. NO ONE!!!!

    I believe we all should earn anything we want to call ours. Just because you were born into this world does not entitle you to handouts!
