Stimulus as Created Jobs say Researchers
February 21, 2010
Many of the US researched firms have confirmed that the Obama stimulus plan, which was accepted in February 2009 as contributed to the safekeeping of the economy from an economic catastrophe. The main contribution of the economic stimulus package was to create million of jobs that would have not been created otherwise, according to the research firms results of their study of the stimulus effects.
While the Obama administration generous estimate of the job creation count is 3.5 millions jobs saved or created, the research results are averaging 1.6 millions jobs till now. They estimate that in the long run, the stimulus package job creation count will be 2.5 millions of sake or new workers.
With that being said, the unemployment is still sky high with double digit numbers and the US economy is still suffering from the economic crisis. A lot is left to be done and this is why the Obama administration wants to create a second stimulus package known as the “jobs stimulus bill”. With the complexity of the American political terrain, this bill risk to be modified a lot before it is adopted by the congress.
In this situation, it is normal that people are not seeing real improvement in their everyday left and they denounce the Obama stimulus package adopted a year ago. They usually compare the enormous amount of the total stimulus package and the few results they see everyday. Even if the stimulus package as created or saved some job, rest that it wasn’t without any flaws.
The political opponents of the Obama administration, being mostly republicans, but a few democrats, are easily targeting the flaws of the package and trying to gain political capital over these misses of the economic stimulus program. The counter attack of the Administration and the republican is to state some example of Republicans who have taken advantage of the stimulus money red tape ceremony. It seems that many republicans are claiming credits for the results in their respective region by assisting to ceremonies who are celebrating new stimulus announcements but they are criticising the stimulus plan on the political terrain.
The stimulus opponents are more prone to defend their idea with political and ideological belief rather then comparing the real life results of jobs creations.
But, the stimulus plan did not just created or saved jobs but rather had some other benefits such as the extended healthcare COBRA benefits for unemployed people who helped in certain ways many of the newly unemployed folks.
For the averaging 1.6 millions workers who got a job or who got their job saved by the plan, it surely helped them and their respective family keep a decent living. For the others, there is still hope for a better tomorrow, but political partisanship must be kept to a low, and these politicians must come together to create a great solution to the economic crisis.
