Stimulus Tax break increase Average tax return

March 23, 2010

Now these days, Obama and the white house are mostly talking about the healthcare bill that just pass in Congress. But, vice-president Biden is recently promoting the benefits of the recent tax break and deductions the stimulus package is providing the taxpayers. They are in fact talking about the benefit of such stimulus measures. They are mostly saying that these tax breaks are a direct injection of Money in the economy to help it grow.

The white house as even added a tax saving tool on their website to help middle class tax payers know the tax saving opportunities and options provided by the Recovery act of 2009.

The white is also saying that the average tax refund as gone up this year because of all the tax credit and deductions offered by the stimulus plan. The average amount of tax refund has gone up by 266$ per person. The average amount is now 3,036$ per tax payer. This is a 9.6% increase from last year. The white house is claiming all of the credits for this increase and say it will directly benefit the struggling economy.

So far in 2010, the 2009 tax return filling count at the IRS is up to 69 million. This is a slight decrease in number from last year. The individual income tax returns are down in 2010 with a 2.9% decrease from last year. Of the 69 millions of tax return fillings, 82% of them were filled electronically says the IRS. The IRS keeps reminding the taxpayers that e-filling and direct deposit are the easiest and fastest ways to receive the tax refund money.

The e-filling prepared by tax professional are down 3.4% from last year while the self prepared e-filing are up by 6.9% from 2009 numbers.

IRS Shulman said that about half of the Americans have not filled their tax yet. He urges them to do so and to look carefully at the American recovery act and stimulus package options and benefits.

The main objective of the Obama administration displaying these numbers are essentially to promote to tax payers that stimulus package measures are available and you may benefit from them. VP Biden states that this year, the tax refund check may be the biggest check some family will see in all the year. The rebuilding of the middle class is an objective of the Obama administration. They add that the middle class as suffered from 2000 to 2007 and that they are on the right track to correct the problem.
